I am loving my new calm corner. As an inclusion teacher, this is very helpful and allows the kids to reflect on their emotions before returning to their seat. I just cut apart one of the posters to turn it into flip rings for their beginning feelings, what they can do to calm down, and their ending feelings.

My students have access to our Calm Corner as needed. If they need a moment away from an activity, or just need to take some breaths. They can sit on the carpet, lay back on the pillow, or try out some of the yoga poses with Mojo. Sometimes we just need a moment to settle ourselves, adults included.

Students who need time to calm down after getting upset, those who come into school after having a rough night, or those who just want a space to be alone and have some snuggle time can use this area. They LOVE it! I have the CD yoga poster with moves they can do as well as the “BREAK” plan of action they or a teacher and student can use to go through the SEL process and learn to calm themselves down.
